MENTAL HEALTH
Find meditation and mental clarity. I find myself riding the roller coaster of emotions through life, but try my hardest to balance nutrition because the right nutrients leas to mental strength and stability. The brain gut connection is real and I know of some ways to help with gut sensitivities and or leaky gut symptoms. A majority of your serotonin lives in your gut, so if you get sad or have negative thoughts, check what your diet has been for the past week, and stop it. Reverse and eat a salad!

PHYSICAL HEALTH
Exercise is medicine and movement is life. Never stop moving and if you are at a point in your life where you are stiff, try to add micro movements and start a stretch routine.
Yoga is very therapeutic and healthy exercise. It can be anything you want it to be and can be everything to a healthy life! I find myself partaking in multiple practices throughout the month as your energy waxes and wanes. |
SPIRITUAL HEALTH
Peace within and out. I find breathing techniques help me stay in a relaxed state. They help center me and bring my focus to what is happen at that moment.

Holistic Hyenas are wild, fierce and laugh, A LOT!
Hyena's are social creatures, living in packs that like to have fun and make time to play!
The pack mentality is strong and together they succeed!
Hyenas belong neither to the cat or dog family, they have a family all their own called, Hyaenidae.
Which make their alpha female ruled packs especially unique!
They have bad reputations of being scavengers, however they hunt for 50% or more of their food making them
an adaptable creature that knows how to survive, adjusting to their ever changing world.
I find them to be a powerful, holistic animal on this planet and invite you to follow me along this health quest!

Movement. Movement is life.
I love this quote, "Exercise is medicine and movement is life."
Whenever I start to feel sad or low, I think back over the last couple days and assess what happened.
Did I exercise much?
What did I eat?
Usually it is no and not that many veggies or fresh foods. So I get sick, it happens, we're all human and live in a busy world. But once my mood changes, I realize I need to get up and start moving! Exercise is something different for each person, just like your taste buds. That is why I like to say movement. Any kind of sustained movement for 20 minutes or more is good for you.

I strongly believe that living a healthy life means living closely with nature and relaying on instincts to guide decisions.
One of my favorite quotes is, "I am guided by my choices, which in turn, my choices are who I am." My choices lead me outside and in the elements, it rejuvenates me and gives me energy. Finding joy in everyday moments and practicing gratitude are also very important. I created Holistic Hyena as a place to share my holistic habits, hacks and recipes with you all, because my hopes are you will live a healthier, happier life! Avoidance of toxins whenever possible is a must. I have rid my house of chemical cleaners. I have been using organic products for common products such as soap or 'tampons'. In a healthy living sense, holistic refers to focusing on the whole, physical, mental, and emotional health. Focusing on all those together will guide to a healthier, happier, more fulfilling life.
I think of living holistic as nature intended. Wake with the sun, unwind and sleep when it goes down. Eat fresh foods, local when possible. Walk everyday for periods of time, breathe deeply, stretch and laugh! Laugh a lot, because laughter is the best medicine! Give support to your naturally functioning systems. The body wants to be in balance, let it balance itself out. |
